Ursula XVII (Disset) recently opened Atelier Disset in Cutchogue to share her love of chocolate with the North Fork and beyond. Disset has long been passionate about chocolate and has trained and worked with top pastry chefs in Europe and the U.S., including the North Fork Table and Inn. She sells her artisanal, high quality, no artificial preservatives chocolates from her shop, online from her website, Disset Chocolate, and at select local markets and shops on the North Fork. Treiber Farms with Peter Treiber Jr.

Join Ali Katz, of Ali Katz Kitchen in Mattituck, as she shows us how to make a delicious, gluten-free Chocolate Nutella Cake just in time for Passover.

Ali Katz Kitchen originated from a combination of Ali and her husband Fritz’s dreams. She bakes what makes both her and her customers happy and the two of them cook and create savory items that are healthy and made from local products whenever possible. They work with the local farmers, small business owners, vineyards & restaurants, and they even sell some fun gift items from the shop’s shelves. And all of this on the beautiful North Fork. Congratulations to Stephan Bogardus!

Our Foodie Tour Partner and Executive Chef of The Halyard restaurant, Stephan Bogardus, was selected as the top chef on the premiere of Food Network’s new show called Kitchen Crash. Stephan competed against two other chefs, all using ingredients sourced from New Jersey neighbors. Kitchen Crash aired on January 6 and rebroadcast on January 11 and January 12. Latkes With Love

Here is a list of the ingredients that you’ll need.  Have them ready so that you can cook along with the video.

  • 5 baking potatoes, pealed and covered with cold water
  • 2 onions
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil plus more for frying the latkes
  • 1/2 cup flour or matzo meal
  • salt – about 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • baking powder – 1 teaspoon
Please have ready:
  • a food processor or a box grater
  • a large bowl
  • good size skillet or frying pan
  • a neutral oil for frying (canola, grapeseed, avocado, etc.)
  • a pan with a rack for warming latkes in the oven.

Suhru Wines

Watch Russell Hearn present  “Winemaking:  From the Vineyard to the Bottle”.   Russell started his career in Western Australia with extensive experience gained working in New Zealand and France.  For the last 30 years he has focused on Long Island and the wine regions across New York State.  Russell founded Premium Wine Group, a custom crush facility in 2000, encouraging small, fine quality wine producers on the North Fork to flourish.   In 2008, Russell and his wife, Susan, realized their dream and established Suhru Wines, working alongside their daughters Shelby and Kylie.

(Note:  A small portion of the beginning of this video was lost due to technical issues.  However, this small glitch doesn’t significantly detract from this interesting and informative presentation.)
